Defendant Accepted Liability What happends next?

Options
So i had a motorbike accident involving a third party (car). And today I had a update from solicitors saying the defendant has accepted liability in full.

So I had the accident 6 weeks ago, and around 4 weeks ago my motorbike was inspected by and engineer and it was deemed as a write-off. And the engineer valued by bike at £1975.

So now i'm wondering what happens now? If hes accepted liability when do i get paid for my motorbike and will I get paid the full £1975 as the engineer valued it at that price.

Thanks.

    Ask the relevant insurance company.

Don't forget any excess you have on the policy will be deducted from what they pay you. And it will be up to you (or any legal policy you took out with the policy) to recover that from the 3rd party insurers.

Thats cods. The third party insurance will settle in full, there is no excess to pay. You only pay an excess when you are at fault and claiming for your own vehicle/bike.

I can see nothing in the OP that says he is claiming directly from the 3rd party's insurers.
  • I have just had a phone call from insurance stating hes accepted liability i said when will i get paid he said 5-10 days. He said our engineer valued the bike at £1975 but it wont be that price because the other insurance takes some off because it was the value of the bike but its not now or something to do with sell value i didn't understand what he was saying. He said he will ring me back when the other insurance has came up with a quote.

So why wont they pay the 1975 that the engineer said its valued at? what is a sell value?

They will offer book value (low) but you don't have to accept the first offer, do some research and find bikes of similar age/condition for sale. Present findings to insurance company.
