Count this as a vent, thougyh only if it's justified, because I don't know if I've misunderstood what's happening here. I'm logged in with my MSE credentials and have just read this latest info:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/deals-hunter/2017/11/14/how-to-spot-the-duds-and-root-out-the-best-deals-this-black-friday/
I've also encountered phony pricing on Amazon and recently, too, so popped in a post about that. But the post wasn't accepted. I'm told I must log into Facebook first.
Why??? I don't have Facebook, don't want Facebook, don't ever read anything on Facebook. I was already signed in to MSE when I browsed to that MSE page and now that I've come to this sub forum, I am still signed in.
If MSE is making it mandatory that MSErs cannot actually comment on an MSE article unless they have first logged into Facebook -- a social meeja which has nothing whatsoever to do with this site -- then it should say so.
If it isn't, then why is comment on that particular MSE page seemingly restricted?? Why is mention made of logging in with Facebook, but no mention of logging in with one's MSE credentials???

No facebook but a need to comment on a random internet article? Sounds like facebook will be right up your street.
It uses a facebook plugin. It says underneath all the comments. Ermhhh whats the likelihood of your post effecting anything? If its a game changing post make sure its heard, if its just an anecdotal post its probably not worth worrying about.0 -
Not only am I not logged into FB, but NoScript is actively blocking facebook.net and facebook.com, (along with many other unwanted 3rd party sites that lurk in the background)
Lets see if I can post? . . . Yeah0 -
Facebook comments mean the article is seen more, more people can comment and the comments themselves will be less anonymous. MSE want people to see the article so from a marketing/raising awareness point of view, it makes sense to utilise the Facebook plugin. Plus it's far less taxing on MSE because Facebook does all the heavy lifting for them. If you want to discuss the article using your forum account you could always post here on the forums?A witty saying proves nothing0
