  • Good morning chums and what a gorgeous morning it is as well the sun is out, and it seems quite mild at the moment I am having a bit of a quiet morning today as the rest of the week will be manic.

Tomorrow I have to take a friend of mine down to Canterbury for a hospital appointment as she doesn't drive and the hospital isn't the easiest place to get to from the town. then on Friday I have another appointment at the hearing clinic for a check up on my aid , then I have to go to the dentist for a check up after lunch so Friday is health check up day :)

Saturday I am driving my DGS Jack up to Hatfield in Hertfordshire as it the Uni open day there so that will take up most of the day.

So today is going to be a pottering and resting day ,well at least until this afternoon when I go to DDs and look after the boys after school, make their snack and prep the veg for DD.
She is managing OK at work but is longing to be able to drive but that's out of the question for at least another three weeks until her foot has healed properly.

Last night I booked us a four night stay on the Isle of Wight for next April Its quite reasonable, as its a caravan, and only 2 miles from Sandown at Culver Bay, its big enough for us all plus the two little dogs. So a nice spring break will give us something to look forward to during the long winter months.

Hope everyone has a good day half the week has vanished already .

Sorry Becky can't get home dumpling, but the treatment hopefully will help her.

Judi, wobble away honey, Christmas is an emotional time for a lot of people

Lainey its a nuisance when white goods give up the ghost, and its always just before usually holiday or Christmas time. I once had my cooker die on me during Christmas week and it was panic stations :)

Nelski enjoy your lunch and grit your teeth when she is full of praise for your brother :):):)

R/Ruby glad your feeling better, a tummy bug is so miserable isn't it

Wine for pets !!!! the worlds gone mad :):):) T/A my friend has just dropped off four spuds as she is flying off to Portugal tomorrow, I have told her to make sure she brings back some sunshine .

Everyone seems to be so productive today, and here's me vegging out on the sofa with my lap-top :) but I will be doing something, as I have to renew my driving licence again and I think I will do it online as that will save me having to trail down to the post office and queue up

Speky I'm impresed with you cooking efforts well done

Hope everyone has a great day what ever you are doing

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx

p.s. our Frank is hanging in there although he is on a morphine pump now bless him.

Just had a nice long shower and shampoo and realised to my horror that the water was spilling over the shower tray and the bathroom and hall floor were awash  Cue dragging out old tatty towels to soak up the water and putting plug and pipe unblocker down the shower drain. I will give it half an hour before putting hot water down the drain and hope that fixes the problem.

Going to volunteer at the library this afternoon so will have an omelette before I leave and also try to pick up a prescription. Washing is in the machine so will get stuff draped around to dry before setting off later.

    Dumpling

I hope you can see your dd at the weekend and that she will soon be home for a visit.

Lots of parcels have been delivered yesterday, mainly for dds and I still need a few more presents to order for Christmas as I don't want to leave things till the last minute and get stressed.

Youngest dd is staying over on Saturday and possibly another dd and her husband if not more so planning a big lasagne for Sunday lunch for us all.

    Hugs to all

I heard from Becky's doctors finally yesterday and she isn't going to be allowed home this weekend for some leave. I am bitterly disappointed and many tears have been shed.
Hang on in there, my friend. Just keep telling yourself that Becky is being helped with her troubles; and that each day that passes is one day closer to having her back home with you. x
Backtracked to Ilkley and a quick browse of the cs and the posh pet shop on The Grove - I could not believe what I was seeing in there! Small bottles of non-alcoholic wine (including a Prosseco) for cats and dogs!!! I have seen it all now!
Oh for goodness sake!! Most dogs I know would be perfectly content with a fresh bowl of lovely cold Adam's Ale. Much better for them, too. And I'll bet a lot of pets will turn their nose up at the strange-tasting stuff appearing in their water bowl.

In fact, when I first started dog-sitting, the franchisee of the business I was with then was a little bemused by the fact that I filled the dog's water bowl from the Br!ta jug. But as I explained to her, the water here tastes disgusting straight out of the tap; it's so hard that it has tattoos, piercings and a Mohawk, and it's chlorinated or whatever they do up to it's ears. I won't drink it straight from the tap, so I don't see why the dogs should have to. :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hello all
Well the weather can't seem to make up it's mind what it's doing today. Anyway had my bloods done early then came home for tea and breakfast. Went back out about 8.30 and Mr Fix It made a Dr's appointment ( different surgery ) before we went to B&M, didn't have what I wanted but bought myself a lap tray and a sensor light for Dad. Called in B&Q and bought a Xmas tree, it's smaller than the one we have and more manageable. Plus I had forgotten that it was seniors day so had 10% off too :j.
As we were near N*xt we had a coffee and shared a cake as Mr Fix It felt a bit swimmy and needed some sugar ;). Gosh it was busy in there! On the way out we spotted some items to go in DD's hamper, so a productive day of sorts but not in the way I expected :). Couldn't get anything suitable for DGS so we may go to Toy*us tomorrow, I will have a look online later.
Our friend had her op yesterday, it appears they took out her lymph nodes too. So we will learn more later tonight but they won't know if it's been successful for another 10 days.
Dad is coming to tea tonight so we are having gammon steaks, with oven chips for the "boys" and I will have a jacket potato or some sweet potato fries.
Dumpling I am sorry that Becky can't come home this weekend so I am sending you many hugs and some for Becky too.
    Redruby glad you feel better.
Nelski enjoy your lunch with your Mum.
    Judi hugs.
Elona  about the lake. Hopefully it can be an easy fix. I'm the same as you about getting the presents sorted early as I hate busy shops and we have so many appointments before Xmas, dentist, Drs etc. and probably DGC Christmas concerts. I hope they have a carol service again this year, I prefer that to a play.
JackieO thinking about Frank and his family.
LainyT :( about the WM .
Right off to get some lunch. Have a good day everyone. Take care.

    Afternoon chums!

All in all a much better working week for me than last week. Students are more responsive and getting stuck into their work. My trip yesterday should also prove really good.

After yesterday I'm still rather tired so anticipate another early night. I don't mind getting up really early in the morning, it's the long day and late nights which get to me.

Camelot - you were more than welcome to the pulley, it was just languishing in the big barn. I'm so glad you find it useful.

Dumpling - hold those worries in, Becky will be getting the best of treatment and it will be fabulous when you do get to see her again.

JackieO - you are so good to your family and they are so good to you too. Lovely to read about a really close family, mine are all so scattered around the country and world, it takes a lot of doing to keep us close, though it's not the same as everyday contact.

Holly - glad your birthday was so enjoyable. On mine I only eat cake and only drink champagne! The next day food tends to be savoury and I drink lots of water.

Time for a hot cup of tea, the ones I had this morning all went cold! I bought a bacon roll at the fuel station cafe. :o
  • Just a quick pop in after work, Dumpling, I'm sorry that Becky can't come home yet but it may be best in the long run, at least let's hope so.
    JackieO, thinking of your family.
Speky, you must be a right treasure for your family, my son went to the states and cooked like a pro for GF but he won't cook here. Possibly good as here, he'd never clear up.

I'm soooo tired but I have wine so I don't care.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
