PIP Back Payment Saving Limit

I'm not particularly hopeful that I will win my PIP appeal, but if I do, it's possible that my back payment will be more than £6k. That's obviously over the saving limit (I currently have about £500 in the bank). Would I need to tell the DWP straight away that I'm over the saving limit?

Bumping this because I won my appeal and got the back payment today (woo), to confirm, it is disregarded for all benefits for 52 weeks?0
