Hi everyone,
I am looking for some guidance on what to do with some items I am selling as I am getting a really off feeling.
I sold 12 items on 1st November. I purchased some clothes from Monsoon that I forgot about and were brand new with tags but they were too late to return.
One person minutes before auction ended asked if I would be prepared to combine postage. I answered yes immediately depending on which items you purchase in case they don't fit in the bags I have.
They then proceeded to buy 5 of these items. Typically the dresses which were very bulky!
I sent an invoice the next morning with the revised postage cost. I received a reply telling me that the cost was too high and how I came to the "insane" price.
I explained I was using the royal mail website for size, weight, including the cost of a larger bag to package and as it was special delivery it is the most expensive option. Would they be prepared for me to look at first or second class maybe? Or hermes etc?
Yes was the answer so I went to the post office the next day and priced up 1st and 2nd. Agreed with second class. Great - revised invoice sent and I'll await the payment.
I waited for 2 days and sent a friendly message asking if she received the new invoice okay and when she is likely to pay. Response again quite quickly. Yes received it and thought I sent payment. I will send it tomorrow. This was last Tuesday.
There is something off with this situation and I spoke with Ebay and they basically said I can cancel if I want. But didn't really suggest what else to try. I don't know if sending another message would be "pestering" or whether it's best to cancel.
Has anyone got any advice? I want the believe that they aren't messing me around but I am worried when I finally send it they might make up it is lost or faulty items like these horror stories!
Thank you

Just open an unpaid item case and leave it to run for 4 days until it can be posted. Also block the buyer, just in case.
Also, remember that the postage option is for your benefit, not the buyers, so whenever you are asked for a cheaper method make sure you are still covered for loss or damage.
Standard 2nd class only covers you up to £20, signed for up to £50.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you very much for your help Soolin!
I thought I would give a quick update. I went to go open an unpaid item case but something in my gut told me to check on the package. Turns out my husband thought I had posted everything and the rest of the clothes were for charity. Wanted to break down and cry as he already donated it earlier that day!!
Went on ebay last night to cancel and was in the process of sending the buyer a message to say sorry but she messaged me first.
She said why did you cancel the order for  I tried to pay but my card was declined due to fraud I did message to tell you this.
Double, triple, quadruple checked - no message!
Safe to say I have blocked the buyer but it really has put me off ebay now

Why? There are umpteen perfectly reasonable buyers out there! Get yourself better organised in terms of dealing with posting (not least keeping your husband's mitts off anything which you are planning to sell). Get some bigger bags (the really tough plastic sort you can buy to use for rubble are good and cost less than 20p each) and price up using Hermes, who will collect from your door for an extra 50p (and you can buy extra insurance if necessary) v Royal Mail so you have the facts at your fingertips immediately when asked.0
