I could understand the OP having a punt, hat could be individual tech shares, pharma, even mining etc
How is sainsburys going to make anyone a fortune, it's just not that type of company?0 -

I have and do have punts. Did very nicely out of IQE and some miners along the way. I’m holding aura energy, bluejay mining, weatherly international and sylvania platinum right as I type.0 -
You would be foolish to put all of your money into one stock, or even into 5 stocks. Risk is reduced greatly by diversifying over a much larger selection of stocks. Use a collective fund, it's easier and safer.Peelerfart wrote: »Wow! That's some serious faith in mog the cat.
49k, beer money? We move in different circles my friend.
He must be drinking craft beer.0 -

Funnily enough I do drink only craft beer. Sixpoint Brewery’s Bengali and that’s about it. I buy it by the pallet from a chain pub £2 a can.0 -

Well that makes far more sense than what you're proposing in the OP.0 -

M&S do a good range of craft beer from some highly respected brewers such as Arbor, well worth trying. I also recommend Verdant, Buxton Brewery and Cloudwater among others. I used to think that £5 for a modest bottle of beer was outrageous. You can get beer boxes online, a monthly delivery of mixed beers from craft brewers for modest money. I now find it hard to drink supermarket beer.0 -

I work for a large multinational company and am at level 13 in the heirarchy meaning there are 12 levels of people at lower grades (including several layers of managers with Audi and Lexus company cars) and eventually some poor sausage at level 1 doing something useful for not much money.
Despite sometimes being in awe of my own importance, which can last several hours a day and be exhausting, I drive a second hand Hyundai which was very cheap as it was formerly Motorbility so has lots of scuffs where the wheelchair was frequently loaded.
I work with a customer who trusts me to deliver value for money and some years I sell more than a whole sales team. They know I am tight, have attention to detail and understand their business so when I price jobs even if they contain thousands of days resource and an extensive materials list they don't need to ask too many questions.

Alex. That is commendable but even you’ll have to admit you’re an exception in your group driving a second hand Hyundai. I prefer to be a grey man and not stand out.0

FYI. In the top 2% of earners with two children at a top private school. The fees alone would make the 40% bracket.
Fingers crossed they get taught humility and can teach Dad too.0 -
Christ, you don't send children to top private schools to learn humility. Entirely the opposite.0
