not sure where to post this but as I'm an old git now old style money saving seems apropriate

my brother-in-law lives in the States, over in Nebraska and for the past few years we've been holding on to some of his old stuff - things like expensive golf clubs memrobilia from his career and other bits

i'm looking at moving (downsizing) and want to ship them over to him - but whose the cheapest company to use?

any recommendations? long time since i've done anythign logistic wise and he's not much help

  • you could always ask on the ebay board as well, ebeyers do a lot of posting so they may have ideas
  • https://www.freightcenter.com/freight/shipping/nebraska

Never used them but might be worth a look.

I shipped several items to Florida from the shipping store located in staples, not sure how big they go?

TNT ship worldwide and I have used them for shipping abroad but you made need to look at cargo if the items are large or bulky. FedEx shipped my stuff back from the states and they were reasonable, just make sure you find out about taxes on any items customs can be funny even if it’s your own stuff, it cost me several £100’s for import duty on my jukebox.

    Hope this helps

  • There are so many variables (where it's going, how big it is, how heavy it is, how much it's worth) that you really do just have to shop around.

Google 'shipping to the States' for starters.

Alternatively, if he's really not that bothered about getting them back, it might be easier to sell them and send him the money.

  • As there's no urgency, look at surface mail options (ie on a boat, not an aeroplane). Shouldn't he be offering to organise and/or pay as it's his stuff that you've been providing free storage for all these years?
    They are an EYESORES!!!!
  • oh he'll pay for it dont worry but the bargain hound in me stillwants it cheap as possible
  • Hi!

Our Cheap Parcel delivery guide should help you. It should be updated soon but it's worth checking the companies in there.

    Hope that helps!

    Andrea :)

It was a few years ago now, but I sent a whole load of stuff to New Zealand using the Excess Baggage Company (https://www.excess-baggage.com). Like me, you seem to be talking more about a large amount of baggage rather than just a parcel or two.

I did do some comparisons and the price was good and they turned out to be very helpful.

But it was a while ago, so DYOR.
