Hi all
I am planning an extremely last minute trip (i.e this Friday!) as per below and trying to figure out a itinerary and would appreciate any pointers of where to go and maybe things to see. Flight in is to KL and out through Manila/
Land in Kuala Lumpur (3 nights) – previously visited and seen all the sights so anything off the beaten path?
Fly to Langkawi for 3 nights (thinking of Penang before?)
Potentially get the boat to Koh Lipe 1.5 hours 3 nights
Get from Koh Lipe (if I decide to go) or Langkawi to Cebu (Philippines) -
Spend 1 week around Cebu and close islands (none of this is yet booked) - So far Oslob/Malapascua/Comotes iv researched
Does anyone have any advice, seeking to scuba dive, beaches and culture. Have travelled around Asia extensively before so trying to fit in new places
thanks

I think you need to get a guide book and be prepared to make decisions on the spur of the moment. Having said that...
Langkawi is really not all that far from KL, so consider train and boat rather than flying. Or go by road, and visit the Cameron Highlands on the way.
The big problem with Langkawi is that there is no public transport, and taxis there are expensive by local standards. So unless you are planning to hire a car on arrival there your stay might be restricted.
Penang is really lovely, both the city of Georgetown and the beaches and mountains further out.
In order to get to the Philippines, you would need to get back to KL and to fly. Unless you have seen Melaka before, I urge you not to miss it. You could then back-track to KL (there are direct bus services from the hospital in the historic heart of Melaka to the airport in KL) or go on to Singapore and fly from there.0 -
We love Malacca and visit twice a year.
Strolling around the small lanes off Jonkers is great. Visit the small 'antique' shops and art galleries, we've bought nearly a dozen paintings over the years. Chat to the locals.
Lots of interesting museums.
We keep trying the food but it's not as good as it used to be with many new Peranakan restaurants which aren't that good.
It's Singapore school holidays so Malacca will be quite crowded.
If you do make it and stay a night the Puri is a nice hotel, might well be booked up now.
Penang is great as well. Stay at the E&O not that expensive really.
Choice of old style Heritage wing or new add on.
Both good.
Room 1501 in the new wing has floor area bigger than our house in UK .
Lots to see when strolling and the artwork on the walls is a do not miss and very good but not as good as that in Ipoh.
Langkawi? Well haven't been for over 20 years. Just a beach holiday really.
Cebu? Well haven't been for 30 years and I was still playing golf then, my caddy beat me easily.
As you've travelled a lot out here much of what I've said may be well known to you.
But if you haven't tried Durians then get stuck in.
There's supposedly a glut of Mao Shan Wang durians in Pahang atm so you might find them in Penang.
If not try a drive to Bukit Pulau over the windy but safe Jalan Tun Sardon with fantastic views.
Or try Bukit Genting where there's a big Durian farm and also great views - google it. Haven't eaten there.
FYI there's been a lot of major flooding in Penang recently with over 7 deaths. Don't know the situation now. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
