Hi all.
Reinstalled w10 yesterday. After the reinstall it activated fine. I then updated defender- this failed a few times then eventually updated after taking an hour and a half to download. Next thing was the big anniversary update. It recognised that the update was there, I then set it to download and after 2 hrs it was at 1%. I left it over night and this morning it said that it failed due to not being connected to the internet.
Other devices work fine and report dl speeds of 30mbps.
Any ideas? Dodgy install of windows? Something else?

This has been the buggiest update I've seen from Microsoft for a very long time - One of my machines installed ok, apart from hiding all my files and deregistering most of my software, another installed with annoying but minor bugs and the third machine was completely nuked - Luckily I'd backed-up my files! Took a week of going in circles trying to iron it out before I refreshed/reinstalled everything!
And yes, it took umpteen failed attempts to download the update before I was even able to start with it.
Maybe wait till they release a fixed version...?0 -

Why on earth would they need a 32 GB USB Flash drive for an image of less than 5GB?
They won't be installing it to the USB Flash drive, but creating installation media. So a 4 GB USB flash drive for the 32 bit version and an 8 GB USB Flash drive for 64 bit.
What machine, exactly, is in question?0 -
It's a dell inspiron, can't remember the model number, maybe 1520. Ivy bridge i5, 6gb ram, about 4.5 yrs old.
May go via the USB and fresh ISO route if I can't get it working right.0 -
Maybe you could tell us the Dell Service tag just in case it's needed. It should be on the PC or check via dell.co.uk support here I think http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt14.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Well now you lot know why so many are staying with Win7...like me.
They simply do not have the time or energy to put up with this sort of sh*t from microshaft that @pogofish has described above and many have done previously with win10
We never have had this sort of aggro from win7 updates
Many actually do use their computers for doing something useful and serious work and having an OS update fcuk up their lives is not what they want.0
