Reliable work laptop needed: 8GBM RAM, SSD drive, Windows 10 for less than £500-600?

Hello all,

I am looking for a reliable work laptop that can do programming, ocassional VM, remote desktop, and can work Office programs.

Majority of the time it will be web development type programming + some Office programs.

Minimum spec is:

8GBM RAM, SSD drive, Windows 10.

Do you have any good suggestions for less than £500-600 please?

Is SSD a must?

£600 would allow you get quad core i5-8250u or i5-7300HQ (both faster than 7th gen i7-7500u) with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD. But not SSD.

I hear SSD's are better.

I already have a 1.5TB external hard drive so thought SSD would be better.

I have a company issued Dell Vostro 14 - SSD, 8gb Ram, SSD - one of the better laptops I have used.

Which processors are good? I see lots of Intel Core i types.

Come on. There are loads of variations in this bracket.
Also age of processor makes a difference. Eg an I7 isnt always better than an I5.
Why not look around and see what takes your fancy,then post up what you have found for opinions.

If you need to stick with the budget, the option probably be i7-7500u with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
