See, you are starting to sound a bit nasty now.0 -
Personally i prefer my neighbour who doesnt question whether to accept a parcel for me or not. And who also, even though he made it perfectly clear he didnt like babies, came round giving us a few meals after our child was born. He also offered respite saying any time i needed a break to go round, which hes still sticking to now nearly 2 years later.
Or the other neighbour who ive only ever discussed the weather with who came round with a card and £5.
If you dont think your neighbour ridiculing you online is an awful thing to do then we disagree. I prefer my neighbours to carry themselves with more dignity than the OP has shown from what theyve posted. They are of course welcome to do as they please.
Not to mention a certain amount of hypocrisy. I mean did anyone ask the OP to share their story? Or have they just done what the dad did and start a discussion on a topic relevant to them with strangers?
Meh, must be me. Im ok with that.
The difference is that strangers online can avoid this discussion with one click. Nobody is stuck in an awkward situation and nobody's feelings are hurt. Except maybe yours...
There's no need to feel hurt though, there really isn't. OP's feelings on their neighbours are no reflection on you and your child(ren). It's just that whilst babies are the most fascinating thing ever to their parents, many people simply aren't interested in them beyond an initial look.
Plus, you're not the sort of parent who would discuss their child's excreta or list all 12 garbled sounds they can make, one of which vaguely resembles "baa baa" and it's sooo adorable because he knows what a moo cow is too so we think we'll get him a little wooden farmyard for Christmas, wow, he'll be 36 months old then, I remember when Suzy was having him, oooh she was in labour for hours as she didn't dilate quickly and ended up with third degree tearing, with a relative stranger are you?0
