Does Paypal notify company if you cancel a recurring charge to that company?

Hi,

Just taken up offer of three months to Readly (digital magazines) for £7.99 usually that per month. Money has already gone to the company.

I know they have set up a recurring charge on paypal should I wish to continue, but probably want to cancel that on paypal, as I only want the offer.

Just wondering though will Paypal inform the company if I cancel a recurring charge as I don't want Readly to cancel my sub if paypal inform them?

They is a button on my Readly account on their website to cancel my sub., but obviously don't want to do that, just want to make sure they don't take any more money.

thanks

Paypal wont tell them, it will just fail at their end. However cancelling Paypal will not cancel your contract with them. If they try to get the money and it's refused then you still owe them that money.

If you want to cancel then do it properly according to their T&C's. We see a lot of people on here who think cancelling a Direct debit or any form of recurring payment means they cancel the contract, this is just not correct. it just means they hound you for the money legally due to them.

If you've paid for a 3 month subscription and their T&C are silent on what happens if you cancel during that period, or say you'll get your digital magazines for the 3 months regardless, then it doesn't matter - but no, Paypal won't tell them. Just make sure you cancel in good time.
