Rust removal

Can anyone recommend something to remove rust on a chrome heated towel rail? I am using a combination of brillo pad, peek, astonish, and some bicarbonate of soda abrasive cleaner.
Is there anything to get rid of it quickly?

Used Hammerite Kurust (http://amzn.to/2hwt19e) to remove rust from my motorbike chain about 2 years ago. I wish I had some pictures but unfortunately I don't. Something that was black and rusty became as shiny as stainless steel. Of course I used it in conjunction with WD40 remove sludge first.
In your case Kurust alone should do it.

I think the hardware shop said the Kurust would be too harsh for the chrome plating.
It looks like patience and elbow grease.

On chrome plating I use automotive metal polish. You risk tarnishing the chrome if you use any kind of chemical remover. I would stay away from harsh abrasives like brillo pads too, unless you like satin finish chrome.0

Autosol a name from the past for me used it on my motorbike in 1980s on chrome. Worth a try seemed to recall it a good product at the time0

You could try Barkeeper's Friend (I find the powder better than the cream). I haven't found anything it ruins but spot test first!0

If it's that rusty you might be better replacing it !!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it more likely that it's the base metal underneath the chrome that has rusted? If so, removing the rust will remove the chrome as well.0
