I need someone to connect a new tv, along with dvd, video etc etc and tune it all in . Does this come under the job description of an electrician or is it TV aerial people? Any recommendations would be appreciated (in a general way). Thanks!!

It's pretty straightforward. I bet you could do it yourself if you tried0

I've managed to wire all my ma's equipment up, but I want to buy her a new tv and set top box. I've tried installing the set top before and failed miserably, so am happy to pay for it to be done."When you want something said, ask a man.

I think it is one of those jobs where you'll be hard pressed to find someone to do it for you. Don't be put off and try it again yourself - it is one of those situations where the forums come into their own. I posted a list of the equipment I wanted to join up and go some great advice. To be honest Booty just asj a mate and safe your money. The connecting together isn't difficult and there's no tuning in needed. The days of connecting everything to the aerial port and tuning each channel are gone.
Plug the set top box into the tv via scart cable, plug the aerial cable into the set top box and turn it on. Then turn the tv on and select the AV channel and it'll pick up the set top box. From there you just need to go into the set top box menu and scan for channels.0 -
Then light blue touch paper and retire??????:rotfl:"When you want something said, ask a man.

OK. But what about dvd player and video. Methinks there wont be enough scart sockets? Can't remember how I did it last time, I know I can retrace my steps with all the leads, but what goes via what. Oh !!!!!!, the telly's gonna have to go!!!!!! which leaves me with just a 6 mile pile of cable!:T"When you want something said, ask a man.

have a look at the back of the tv, dvd and video etc and we'll tell you how to do it. You'll have your mum so impressed she'll forgive you for thinking you needed to spend £50 an hour on getting somebody to do it for you.
