Always run laptop on mains. On Sunday, I took out the power cable from my laptop to give the area a clean. Plugged it back. Now it will only run from my battery. As had a warning pop up. I unplugged and replugged laptop and the adapter box has light on.

The power cord will only work if it's fully in. Laptop is almost five years old

Will it only run on battery , or will it work on power cord if its fully in ?

    Cant be both.

Also, you're going to have to be a bit more specific on what that warning said !
(presuming you have a question that is !!! )

took it that the laptop used to work off the mains cable, they took the power cable out to clean the area it plugs into ( do not know if running when unplugged )
re-plugged it in and an error message appeared, they unplugged it and plugged it back in now will only run on batteries.

OP reports "Its now working. Got a can of air duster and used it on the power cable port. The battery was at 7%. Left it for a while."
