Sainsburys 0% 28 months - fee refund?

Hi all

I recently needed to switch my 0% credit card from Barclaycard and, having completed the MSE eligibility checker, I decided to go with Sainsburys 28 month. I recall MSE saying somewhere that it was fee free because I could claim back the balance transfer fee, but that I'd need to apply to claim it back.

Trouble is, I now can't find any information on how to claim back that fee.

Does anyone know? TIA

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/balance-transfer-credit-cards#sainsburys28 and (more importantly) https://www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/credit_cards/no-bt-fee-card say that the fee is initially charged and is then refunded within 60 days, implying (to me) that it'll happen without intervention....
  • I took out this card earlier this year and I can confirm that the balance transfer fee was refunded without me having to apply for it. Unfortunately I can't remember how long it took to be refunded although I'm fairly sure it was more than 60 days

I took out the same card a few months ago and I've just checked the statement entries. I did three balance transfers in the first statement period and they were all credited back on the same statement.

From memory, all the credits appeared when the statement was produced so it took about a month between the fee showing and the credit being applied. I remember being a bit worried as there was no information on any of the promotional literature that comes out with the card about the fee rebate but it's an automatic process as long as you've definitely applied for this card (ie. you don't have to apply for it).

As an aside, the one annoying thing about Sainsburys is there's no way to opt for PDF statements - you can only see a snapshot/summary of the transactions online for any statement period but not the details. They still send out paper statements with no alternative offered.
