Switch Comparison To Include Current Supplier
HI All,
Something I've noticed while looking to switch and am not sure if I'm correct in an observation.
Using the comparison sites, they ask for your current supplier and the tariff you're on. When they display the results and new suppliers you can switch to, your current supplier isn't listed.
If then I clear all browser cookies and redo the switch comparison, but this time I specify I'm with a different supplier, my current provider is then displayed with a deal that wasn't there the first time.
The interesting thing is, the deal then from my current supplier doesn't make it worth switching to another supplier - just move to the new plan with my current provider. Quicker and easier.
I know these comparison sites can sometimes get commission when people switch, but the cynic in me thinks that by not showing your current provider's best deal - which could well mean switching is not necessary - they are pushing you to switch for commission purposes. I guess they would argue back that making people switch would make our (rigged) energy market more competitive and is working in the best interests of the consumer.
So, with this experience when switching, I would say do a minimum of two comparisons - one stating your current supplier & tariff and one pretending that your supplier is some other company.
Is my thinking straight on this, or am I missing something??

Its always shown my current supplier .
But current is frequently not the best deal .
Tested and shows my supplier today but way down the list .0 -
Sometimes particular tariffs from your current supplier are not available to existing customers so will not be shown.
Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.
