Santander ppi

I don’t know if any one can help, made complaint to Santander regarding mis-sold ppi on 3 store cards on 30/8. Basically received letters stating they were investigating the complaint. Then at the 8 week deadline they hadn’t been able to give a final response and that I could refer the case to FOS which I did for each separate account. They have since sent me a letter saying the can’t investigate as they were taken out pre 2005. My question is where do I go now? Is it worth contacting Genworth the underwriters or continue to wait on Santander?

The Santander PPI team are usually very helpful and can often find account details over the 'phone, simply by searching on your name and post code.
Santander have taken on the historic liability for the then Arcadia Group of firms [DP, Burton + 12], as well as a few others.
You don't mention which shop or the year the PPI was added to your account; but, I can personally confirm that Santander refunded myself as well as friends and relatives' re store cards from the 1996-2002 period where PPI was added without our knowledge or consent.
Yes, Santander > FOS (Ombudsman) > Genworth (underwriter) is the usual route, although as I suggested the vast majority of successful reclaims are being actioned by Santander.
(PS I wouldn't be unduly worried, as due to the backlog AFAIK the average is 11 weeks to receive redress). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Mersey can I ask who you and friends were with and when it was from? I have a claim in with Santander for a Burton's card from 1999 which I wasn't aware PPI was added to.0

You'll know the result of your own complaint soon enough.
Do be aware that simply not knowing that you had PPI is not a valid complaint, that just means you've either forgotten or failed to read your statements.0 -
I know that ... I managed to get 6k back from RBS on the same basis though so worth a shot!0

Almost identical to yours in that they included Burton and that date. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0
