What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 13th November?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

There is a combination of lots of things needed, socialising and my upcoming birthday which means I feel my spending has got out of control a bit again :o Will sit down with a coffee after dropping madam off and assess where we are and what to do about it....

    Other than that:

    * will be checking banking
    * portion up dahl made yesterday and freeze some :D
    * check through fridge/feezer/larder & do meal plan
    * still not using car :money:
    * housework
    * take up some trousers
    * knitting and listening to audio book
    * might go to lottie - will see...

    Ok that's all x

Morning DNMS, and everyone else :)
Not a good night again, with OH's suffering with his back plus I got indigestion for some reason and had to get up and take some tablets
Anyway, I will drink lots of coffee, have a shower and wash my hair in a minute, and generally wake myself up!
    Today's things:
    Dog walks x 2
    Some housework
Need to post some ebay parcels and check what needs doing for RM surveys
Get to sales unit with some new stock and tidy up after the weekend
    Do some housework
    Check the banks
    Check for surveys
Pull meat off the chicken I cooked yesterday and put bones in the SC with some stock vegetables :)
Cold meat, jacket potatoes and salad for dinner tonight, so minimal cooking. I think I will make chicken and leek pies to use the rest of the chicken meat, plus some leeks from the garden :) But that is one of tomorrow's jobs!

I will probably think of more as the day goes on. Have a good one everybody :)

    Morning folks!

    Bright and crisp here today!

Narrowly avoided a post-work cba cooking moment due to the insane meal prep. You can't really sly out of cooking when all you have to do is bung the chips in the oven and the fish in the frying pan :o

Also had to explain to OH that setting a budget and sticking to it is not the same as setting a budget and then spending whatever you like. We have a few things coming up that money needs to be kept back for and blowing £40 on dinner would not help. OH is def an "enabler". He is very much an "in the moment" type of person, whereas I am more long term focussed. Unfortunately this means he often encourages me to do things that are against my long term goals if he thinks it will cheer me up at any point.

    So... onto today's mission:
    • Meals from plan
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Log cals in free app - done
    • Gym at lunchtime - done. very disappointed in my power clean.
    • No drinks
    • Make a loaf of bread
    • Heating will be off all day as we're not in, but def going on when I get back! It's freezing here!
    • Clean demijohn ready to rack wine
    • Said an emphatic yes and thank you to my neighbour when he offered me free cooking apples from his tree - done
    • Booked our hair apps. OH has decided to go to my hairdresser this time to save a bit of money - done
    • Ring npower to ask why my dd has gone up to £85pcm from £60 when I'm not in arrears!! - apparently it was projected past August 2018 when my current tarrif ends and they project based on you staying with the standard tariff. Have told them to lower it back to £60 and I will pay off any winter arrears with the money they refunded me earlier in the year!
Will add more if I think of it

    Have a good one all

Going to (sorry to name drop but they're awesome) lidl and getting a 5 slice pack of ham for £1.30. Then getting a gouda roll at £0.25 every day for lunch. Saves on McDonalds and £3 sandwich meal deals.

This comes under making lunch at home but this just happens to suit me, personally I hate making my sandwiches the day before I eat them but that's just being picky I guess

Morning all and welcome Smoke :)

I'm off out to lunch with my mum today, she will pay but I will pick up some sliced meats for her on the way for her lunches throughout the week.

I've just bagged two packs of rolls in separate bags in the freezer to take in on work days, I'm not good at making them in advance but I will buy one slice of whatever is on offer each day and fill them there.

I need to go to the post office but cab do that on the way to my mums to conserve petrol.

Two new designs arrived yesterday so I need to photograph and get up on Am@zon, it's not clear online whether the new £3.99 charge for Prlme customers is only on food deliveries, (if I've understood it right?), hope it doesn't drive too many people away thinking it's on everything.

    More washing to go in.

    More dishwashing to go in.

Dinner tonight will be chicken kievs and dauphinoise potatoes, neither home made I'm afraid but still cheaper than a takeaway!

I must make the effort to do the YS run tonight.

Have a good day all :)
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    Morning all,

AWOL again last week (Apologies!) but we finally have a moving date of the 28th! So I've been busy arranging vans/help/childcare and packing up things we won't need beforehand. Back to it today with my list:

    - Chase SNC complaint - Done - They have until Thursday!
    - Check F&F received - Done - Letter sent out to me today with a reply - they wouldn't tell me over the phone!
    - Chase Wonga re ID (I've married since I had my loans and they're just being ridiculous with their stalling tactics!) - Done - Email sent, I will be calling them if I haven't heard back by tomorrow
    - Save LOs from tea for lunch tomorrow

    - Check how much I owe for hiring village hall for DS birthday - DH on the case since he booked it!
    - Shop around for a cheap taxi for girls night on Saturday
    - Request final bill for council tax
    - Milk & Chips from the shop - Done

That's all for today. Tomorrow afternoon off work so will have a bigger list to complete - for now I'm going to finish my day at work, spend some time with the family and it's curry night tonight!

    Happy Monday all!

    Evening all,
Busy day....had to spend time on some local political stuff today, so that was a chunk of my morning gone, but have been quite frugal with other activities:
*Laundry done overnight on cheapo tariff, followed by a quick 30 mins at 30 deg load first thing. Have re-loaded washer & will put on timer for another half price wash tonight.
*Pegged out on line. It's a really cold day here, but there was a bit of a breeze & surprisingly, it has just all been fetched in a lot dryer than it was.....now on heated airer for tonight.
*Picked a bunch of home grown rocket.
*Topped up wormery with kitchen scraps & chopped up bank statements.
*Updated budgets, particularly grocery budget. Straightened out what I owe for my scrummy new dress. As I didn't need a dress (but was lured by its general scrumminess), I honourably decided it wouldn't be fair to take all of its cost from our Clothing Piggy, so have been working some complicated budget swaps this afternoon. Result, though, as budgets straight & I still have the dress. Yay!!
*Did rubber pork (never as exciting as it sounds, lol) - it did roast dinner yesterday, will do stir-fry with noodles tonight, something tomorrow night (maybe a chilli?) & there was also enough for some sandwiches & a contribution to the latest Epic Man Stew that mr f is threatening to make on Wednesday.
*£5 voucher (survey payment) arrived, so have updated my signature.
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water. I wonder how much we save from this a year.....it would be easy to check the meter & find out, I guess. And why am I married to a hippo.........?....as in, always in the bloody bath!
    * Use-it-up mascara going on here this week - popped the tube in a mug of boiling water & it soon softened up enough for this week's lashes.
*2 Prolific Academic surveys done & also entered 1 prize draw.
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Wrote 2 letters, both of which went into recycled envelopes.
*Tweaked meal plans to make better use of what needs using up.
*Mended a pair of black winter tights.....I like the opaque thick type with my chunky boots & they seem to darn quite well, unlike the more sheer variety.
*No downstairs heating on yet, much to cat's utter disgust, but am about to light the fire - unless it's really perishing, I do hold off with that until at least 5pm, as I am always in & out of the room a lot & busy until later, anyway.
That's it for today. I did intend to sort out jars from my stash for chutney-making session tomorrow, but it's fallen off the list, but I can so it tomorrow once I've got it simmering away on the hob.
    Right, must crack on.

    Hey peeps

I hope you are all doing ok. :)

I've had a busy week that started at 5.25am last Tuesday - working away Tues to Thurs then off for a weekend away with my bestie Friday - Sunday...

Feeling completely out of sync with everything so tonight is all about getting a bit organised. Need to sort stuff out online and then some sorting out around the house...

Might be a small amount for some but I have til end of January for the end of my moratorium period to gather £90 for a DRO, so even though it's not really saving to clear my debt directly, it's going towards paying the insolvency service the one-off fee and atm i've gotten what I can from family so am relying on christmas for money.

At this point i've only got £15 in basic account and £15 in cash which I should put in bank to avoid impulse buying which got me into this mess in the first place.

I predict I will get at least £50 from christmas as I think I did last year which includes what I would have bought others gifts and cards.
