This is actually sparked by looking at the iPhone X today but i guess it's not limited to the iPhone X as more phones seem to be going this way.
Right now i'm an iPhone (6S) user although as time goes on i'm feeling that more & more my next phone will be an Android. I was also looking at the Galaxy S8 today and noticed the lack of an actual physical home press button even though there's more of a home button on the Galaxy S8 than on the iPhone X.
So it made me wonder - when you've got an app open that uses up the full screen, how do you get to the home menu? For example - a game maybe?
On my iPhone 6S i just press the physical home button. Also to see all the apps i have open i just double press the button & from there i can close them.
Didn't find any such option on the iPhone X.
Also on the Galaxy S8 for 1) i couldn't find how to get to the apps menu as that icon seemed to be missing from the main page but 2) if a full app was open, the home button is just a screen press & not physical so just wondering how you'd exit it ... without pressing the power button to turn the screen off.

On the S8/S8+ you just slide your finger up and the app menu appears.
The home button is just a light press on the screen bottom centre. Either side of this are another two non physical buttons. Left shows all open apps, which then allows you to close all, or, individual ones. Right is a back arrow that closes the currently open app.
All very easy and soon becomes second nature.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

The iPhone X is the same, you swipe up from the bottom to get back to the home screen.0

Much depends upon the phone and its OS .
Android may be the choice but the manufacturers can have a different overlay .
Often within settings their is a choice as well .0
