Used car issues after 30 days
Options
Hi
I recently purchased a used 2007 Nissan Grand Vitara. I purchased it from a used car dealer. In the last 2 months since owning it I have had several issues that the dealer seems to have an answer for.
1. The car judders violently in 2nd gear with low revs
2. Engine seems noisy above 60mph
3. Hot metallic smell after some journeys
Last night travelling home from a day of hiking, the oil light came on the dash and then moments later the injector warning light. The car then lost power and i broke down. AA said it was a turbo failure. There was oil everywhere.
Now i have a 6 months warranty which i dont hold much hope in but seeing as i've had ongoing issues that i've highlighted to the dealer, should they take responsibility for the turbo and other issues?
Thanks
Matt

Who makes them Suzuki?0 -
1. The car judders violently in 2nd gear with low revs - How low are the revs ? Most cars will judder in any gear if the revs are too low.
2. Engine seems noisy above 60mph - I would expect it too depending on the engine.
3. Hot metallic smell after some journeys - could be anything but most likely a slightly sticky brake caliper.
Doesn't sound like these are major issues and certainly nothing to be surprised by in a 10 year old car.
Dealer should deal with the turbo issue though (hopefully the engine hasn't been trashed after loosing the oil)0 -
Or ingested the turbo and engine damaged0

I was told by the dealer that the juddering issue was due to my style of driving and that the noisy engine was down to the road surface.0 -
Despite the car being 10 years old, I would have thought the dealer has some responsibility towards the turbo failure after only two months' ownership. I think you may struggle with the other issues, though.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
