Barclaycard - Removed Balance Transfer Facility

Hello,

Wondered if anyone had experienced this problem. I'm trying to reduce my interest on CC's and my barclaycard was up to its limit. I called to see what the rate was for BT and was told they couldn't tell me because my card was full. I was advised that when the current balance was paid off, the BT would be available.

I BT'd this to another card and was actually in credit on my Barcalycard by £20. This was a month ago, and everytime I call they just say, sorry there are no BT offers for you today. My limit is £2750, the cash advance limit is £1350!!! So I could go out tomorrow and spend it all but they won't let me do a BT!!

If I had known, I would have cleared another card instead. At first they said I had made a late payment one month - but this wasn't true, they checked and agreed and the errror was corrected. I also ensured all my salary details were up to date, which they weren't (still had me as a student). But still I am not allowed to do a BT. Can they just remove that facility without telling you? Why not just close my account?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

If its any consolidation they will not offer me a bt. However my credit limit is £8,000 and can withdraw this amount in cash.

However not bother about their crap bt offers as I am always being offered good deals from my other credit card providers.

Give them a ring a tell them you want to speak to the retention department to close the account and they will ask you why, just tell them and see what they offer you - just make sure you can do without it just incase it all goes t*ts up and they offer you nothing and close it.
Just got a BT off them at 0.9%pa and a fee of just 1% haggled down from 3% by doing it this way.

  • i had the same response when i called looking for a more competitive interest rate. i was told there was nothing available for me today and to call back later in the month! which reminds me, i'd better give tham a call. (saturday night sorting out my credit card, i need a life!!! :P )
  • We can get cash up to £11750 on our barclaycard but they won't let us BT.We asked for a BT rate and were told we could take the cash to that limit but no BT was being offered that day.
