Firefox not responding

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with Firefox almost constantly freezing with the 'not responding' message at the top. It's every few seconds. I'm only using it for general browsing, no videos or anything like that.
I'm using a Lenovo Yoga 300, Windows 8.1.
I tried googling and there was advice to uncheck hardware acceleration but I can't find the box to uncheck.
I'm not at all technically minded, so any advice needs to be really really basic please.
TIA.

Dump Firefox...........
I got fed up with things like this so removed it & went back to using Chrome.
For me Chrome never ever says 'not responding'

Have you tried updating to the latest version or unistalling and reinstalling? Scanned your computer for viruses?0

Under tools/options/privacy & security clear the cached web content.
I used to sing the praises of Firefox but dumped it after too much of this issue0 -
Do you keep it open all the time? A restart now and then helps this as it does seem to leak memory.0

Well I tried everything at the time but could not do with the hassle that Firefox became.0

Sorry for not replying quicker - I was a bit embarrassed.
Just restarting Firefox has worked. I assumed that it restarted along with the laptop but it seems not.
Thanks for all the replies.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
