Ive just finished decorating my downstairs loo. Everything looks great but the wooden loo seat stands out like a sore thumb. Completely the wrong colour. Im loathe to replace it coz its in perfect nick. Has anyone tried staining and varnishing a loo seat before? I live on my own so its quite clean, I know urine can be a problem.
Hope this hasn't put anyone off their dinner 😁

I’d just change it . They’re not too expensive to replace , and would save time messing around . It depends how flush you are though, as some can be expensive .0

I'd put a wee bit of paint on it.0 -
It's going to cost just as much in varnish or whatever as a new loo seat!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Its not gonna cost me anything because I already have the stain etc. Just cant afford to fork out on new seat at the minute and mine is perfect so thought id ask for advice on this site. I'll just leave it.0

Thats not a bad idea taff. I made some shelves and stained them a beautiful dark oak so ideally wanted to stain the seat the same but I could just prime and spray instead. Thankyou 0

if it's wood then just sand the current finish off back to bare wood and then stain and varnish it0
