The NHS will pay for a funeral (and then reclaim as much of the cost as possible from the deceased's estate) but you will have to pay for any extras that you want like a wake.0 -
The cost of flowers should come from the mourners not the estate, and there should not be a large spend on a wake either.0

Flowers are part of the funeral expenses and the wake can be as grand as you like....within reason!0 -
In the case of a public health funeral paid for by the hospital they will not pay for anything but a small amount of flowers and nothing for the wake. In the case of a funeral funded by the deceased’s estate an unduly extravagant wake is not a legitimate expense for the estate to pay.0
