New Zealand National Trust for Non Residents for entry to English and Scottish Natio

I understand non resident can join the New Zealand National Trust. if one person is over 60 and another person living at the same address the annual subscription is 60 New Zealand Dollars (approximately £32 on the current exchange rate). This will allow entry to both English and Scottish National trust properties plus free entry to to English Heritage properties. Is that correct as it is significantly cheaper than anything that is being offered by the English National trust and then you need additional subscription to join the English Heritage.I am aware it does not include car parking. Also can you join at any time of the year and then does it run for the full year or do you have to join in a certain months to get the full annual membership. if anyone could clarify the points raised we will be very grateful. It really seems a good deal but is there a catch!!!!

I concur joining the New Zealand National Trust seems to be a really good deal. The price you quoted looks correct although it can fluctuate slightly depending on exchange rates. Also there appears to be good rates for an annual family membership. I am not sure whether it does include English Heritage properties for free admission. Also I cannot find if you whether to you have to take out the subscription in a certain month for you to benefit for a full years membership and not just part of the 12 month period. Maybe someone who reads this post and is already a member of the New Zealand National Trust can give us this information. There is no point in joining in November if the membership expires in March, as it would not be much cheaper that the English National Trust. Best to wait until March, or whatever month membership commences.

It is Know as the New Zealand Heritage not the the New Zealand National Trust. Your Subscription runs for a year from the month you join. if you contact them with any questions they will say the spirit if the scheme is to join the organisation of the country you reside. However they also confirm you can join the New Zealand Heritage as a Non resident under the current reciprocal agreement .It is is a lot cheaper especially if you do not use the card too much and have to pay car parking. You can join on line by completing a form on their web site where there are various options including one for families

Of course the New Zealand Heritage do not want to be seen as poaching members from the English National trust. However there is no denying it is a far cheaper option especially if you are on a tight budget. Joining the New Zealand Heritage is perfectly legal and you are doing nothing wrong, English National Trust will still benefit from Car parking charges and anything you spend in their cafes. The same applies to English Heritage properties.

There are a number of countries that have a reciprocal arrangement with the English National Trust but not all the schemes are open to non residents of the country in question. After some research and price comparison of the countries whose schemes are open to non residents we decided that the New Zealand Heritage was the best value and was the most suited for us. We applied and paid on line which was quite simple. Our membership pack arrived in the post this morning with our membership running until end of November 2018. It does states parking is not included (we were aware of this fact when we applied). The English National Trust and English Heritage will still benefit as we will be paying any parking charges at the properties we visit. We will review again when our membership expires in 12 months time.

This scheme sounds a great idea at the price especially as it would appear to cover both National Trust and English Heritage properties.

yes you can still join nz trust, im a member, cost £48 ish for a family card, use it at national trust and english heritage

The NZ National Trust loophole was closed in May 2019. If you don't live in NZ, the membership fee is now 200NZD instead of 64NZD.
