Changing Tax Class

Hi,

My car is registered for road tax exemption. I am going to be selling my car, will I need to retax my car to private tax class, when selling so the new buyer can tax it, or can he/she just tax it normally and it goes from disabled class to regular tax class?

The office is now close till Monday that's why I am asking here.

I doubt then you will be selling the car between now and Monday.

A buyer will need to tax at a Post Office, the online system can't cope with taxation class changes.

yeah I don't need to change tax class from disabled to private as its on the buyer to do this. Saving the seller money

How does it save you any money? Changing taxation class doesn't cost a penny.

It used to be changing class was done by the seller meaning you would have to get 6 months road tax before selling it on to show car is currently on private tax bands.

Rubbish. I've bought a number of cars over the last 20years and I've always changed the VED class myself after purchase. Used to be at the DVLA LO, now it's done at the PO.
