Assuming it's an Hp machine go to the HP site driver page for your PC and get the latest 3D driveguard software and install it0

Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP 3D DriveGuard and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the version of HP 3D DriveGuard on the following link.

Well hans, whatever it was you told me to do, I carefully did apprehensively I might add. Then re-booted. The result was that pop-up has gone.
Not for one minute do I understand what all that was about. What I do know is that I appreciate you taking the time to help this very old geezer. Thankyou.
PS the others that responded, thanks to you too.
PPS, will I notice any difference in the way my laptop performs after this procedure ?.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
No difference, but if you drop the PC and it has a hard disk its more likely to survive the impact, as the PC detects its falling and parks the heads on the drive.0

Really?. I have a HP laptop, HP printer, so don't I need any of it? . If i do as you suggest Andy, will I notice any difference?.
On a slightly different route. When I bought the printer, there were ink options. For£1.99 per month and on the understanding I didn't print more than 50 A4 sheets a month, they would supply me with regular ink .
That was November 2016. I received the first set of ink, then no more, despite me making this know to them, but their reply is, I can't have used 50 sheets and the cartridges they supply are capable of holding more ink than standard. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Ok if you have a HP printer then you may need to keep 2 of them.
HP machines come with LOADS of useless rubbish that runs in the background.
If you go to control panel, then to programs and features, and post a screenshot of all the ones that start with HP then ill tell you what you can remove.
As for your "instant ink" quandry - Im afraid i cant help with that other than suggest you complain !0 -
How many sheets have you actually printed? If you haven't printed many then they won't send you ink as they only supply it when you are running low, not 1 a month.
From https://instantink.hpconnected.com/uk/enWill I get cartridges every month?
No, you will only get cartridges when your printer tells us you need them. HP Instant Ink cartridges are extra high capacity, and they contain months’ worth of ink depending on your usage. You can print as much as you want as long as you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink.0
