How meaningful is depreciation if you are intending to keep the car for the same amount of time as the Honda? It only costs you actual money if you sell it within a few years.0

That's an odd view.
There's the sunk cost of the purchase price or the finance cost per month.
You could certainly argue that the larger depreciation over the intiially years can be discounted to a lower figure over a longer term, but whatever you do it will cost money.
Whether that cost is higher than that of retaining and running the current vehicle remains to be seen but it's highly likely to be.0 -
Ebay works for me. I would put it on with a buy it now/ best offer.
As others have said - why sell it ?Any car, new or old can breakdown. I have an 11 year old car and a 16 year old car and have RAC personal cover, no issue with car age and in fact I’ve never had to use it. Only issue is no European breakdown cover on the 16 year old car. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on0 -
I had trouble getting rid of my 10 year old mazda with 73000 miles, serviced and new cam belt fitted, nothing but nut cases on Ebay .One chap bid but he never turned up. In the end I gave it away and the new owner is very pleased with it.0

Why did you not take it to an auction?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
I was in a similar position to the op. I gave the car to a friend who was going through a hard patch, and who's car had just failed it's mot. it lasted him a further 8 years.0

The op has not returned and answered how old the car is.
I was thinking of replacing my Berlingo,. But having spoken to the mechanic when collecting it from it's service last Saturday, I have decided to keep it an go ahead with the cambelt change next year instead of running it into the ground.Never Knowingly Understood.

It's 15 years old, turning 16 early next year. The current plan is to see what happens at the mot which is due just before Christmas.
My current car will have cost me over £20k in depreciation over the 8 years I have owned it but I am fortunate that my car allowance has more than covered that.0 -

It's a Honda. If the rust hasn't got to it yet, it's just run-in.
Even if the rot monster is eating it away, that's not going to cause it to break down.0 -
There is some bubbling around the boot, however the clutch is reportedly a bit suspect.0
