Can the two beneficiaries change the executor?

Me and my brother are the only two beneficiaries of our mum's will. Its a 50 - 50 split.
The will was written 50 years ago and the executor was our local bank manager and friend. However, he's long gone, so the bank he worked at is now the executor.... and they are very expensive. Can the two beneficiaries (me and my brother) ask for another executor to be appointed??

Yes you can but the bank is probably not obliged to do so. However they will appoint a solicitor to do the work and under the solicitor's rules they are expected to comply with the family's wishes. If written that long ago it would name him specifically and if he dies the bank don't just get to take it over.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls
