Fitting a hearth

We're going to fit a modern wall mounted electric fire, about 12" to 18" from the floor, this is still in the discussion stage, but I would imaging a compromise will be agreed ; ). She wants a hearth on the floor, just for decoration and to place a few ornaments etc on. It will probably be one of those fake marble or limestone type ones, there fairly heavy and I'm wondering best way to fit it to the concrete floor. Should I head it on time adhesive, or dabs of mortor. Floor is pretty flat and level.

  • We did ours with marble tiles, we have a multifuel fire above. I think it looks quite nice and was a lot cheaper than a one piece marble one.

I wanted to do something like that, but she wants a proper hearth. Not worth me even going down this route.

I'd personally just use basic adhesive; like you said they're pretty heavy, and not likely to go anywhere.
