We are flying to Las Vegas next year in May. Can anyone tell me can you go through Immigration in Dublin and this saves you going through Immigration when you get th USA.
I thought you had to go through Immigration when you first enter USA - IE - New York ???? But one person in our party said they had previously done Immigration in Dublin when they left there for Vegas????
We are flying Dublin to New york and then New York to Las Vegas
The only problem is that there is only a One hour 20 min Changeover between landing in New York and leaving there again for Las Vegas.

I flew Dublin to Chicago last year and I cleared US immigration in Dublin - it was great!!! Saved at least 90 mins when we landed in USA - felt sorry for people flying in from other places, the queue was huge!!!
It has something to do with Ireland having a special agreement with the US. Enjoy Vegas - I loved it - remember to visit the casinos for 99 cent food and drink - very moneysaving!! Plus you have tovisit the Grand Canyon - not very moneysaving but you really can't miss it!0 -
Just trying to bump this one >>>>>>
Has anyone else done this going to The USA0 -
Not done it myself but I know people who have

Hi
I've travelled from Dublin to New York before with both Aerlingus and Continental and you do (usually) go through immigration at Dublin. You go to the gate and the immigration area downstairs opens maybe about a hour and a half before the flight and you get your passport and all documents stamped before you even get on the flight
Remember to keep your customs form as you still need to pick up your luggage and go through customs when you arrive in New York, you then have to recheck your luggage, this means just leaving the baggage hall and putting your bags onto another carousel.
It really is great doing immigration before as you bypass all the lines when you arrive into New York and when you see the lines sometimes you really appreciate it
With only 1 hour 20 mins connection I'd really research what gate you need to get to as it can take a bit of time to pick up your luggage before you recheck it and then try to get across terminals etc as you need to go through security again. I know I've done this in Newark and when actually got to the plane to Boston they had already taken me off the flight and put me on the one that was leaving the next day. Managed to get on it though and was really surprised that my luggage made it too.
Loved Las Vegas if you want any tips for it let me know:dance:0 -
To confirm earlier postings, if you fly from either Dublin or Shannon to the USA you go through immigration prior to departure.
The US have this arrangement with quite a few countries, mainly in the Caribbean. Nice cushy posting for their staff by the sound of it. 3 or 4 planes a day at most.
Customs (baggage) on arrival in the US though.0
