Nationwide use Countrywide to value. They do not favour new builds. Loads of reviews on it online. They only look at sq ft of the house didn't account for the location. The valuation that came back was ridiculous.

Surveyors act on the instructions of their clients, i.e. the lenders. Developers use a whole array of smoke and mirrors to maintain their selling prices. What incentives were you offered?

We got a reduction in price, all appliances, all flooring and front and back garden landscaped.

They valued it at £215K. Not many 3 bed houses, in a village location with outstanding schools, close to two major motorways that would cost that in this location. Needed it to be valued at £239K.

We've had the most amazing news. Valuation was completed and submitted yesterday and I have just received our mortgage offer. Could not fault Halifax process. From start to finish 8 working days! Hope everyone else gets the same news
  • Massive Congratulations! That was super quick, we still haven't heard anything as of yet, really pleased for you!
  • We submitted our full application on the 13th, our valuation was done on the 21st. We got the homebuyers report on the 22nd so now we’re just waiting for our offer. I’m starting to worry the longer it takes
