Halifax Mortgage Process

  • Hi, don't be nervous as you have done your bit and can't do anything else. Mine only took 2 weeks to get an offer after applying on 23rd October. Hope that helps. Valuation is outsourced to a different company called Colleys and they got the valuation done in 2 days (that after first person broke their leg and couldn't go, so they sent someone else the next day).
  • Full application in through a broker on 24/10/2017 valuation fee taken at the time. Found out from broker valuation instructed and took place on 01/11/2017, report received in post couple of days later, had to send more docs proving income to Halifax, and answer some questions about them. Offer received by email from broker on 10/11/2017 copy received in post yesterday! I absolutely scoured these forums whilst in the process, ours was a little complicated due to extra income and historic adverse and broker was just so patient! Really happy with timescale but don't read anything into how long it took other people. I convinced myself it would be a rejection due to the extra docs requested! A LOT of unnecessary worry. Trust your brokers if you have them :j

That's amazing news, congratulations! Thanks for sharing your experience with Halifax, hope my timescales are the same. Counting down to Tuesday for the valuation. Broker said 48 hours from then they should have the report. Feel awful, constantly wishing time away!

Valuation is today with Halifax. How long do they usually take to report back the results? Anyone have experience with this particularly with Halifax?
  • Hi, we had our valuation yesterday, because we are buying the house we are currently living in I was there when the surveyer came so he confirmed the valuation was fine and said he would submit the report electronically by the end of the day yesterday, I got a text at half 2 saying it had been submitted from him so it is back to the waiting game again now, I will keep you updated if we hear anything (good or bad) i'm still terrified something will go wrong!

Hi simon. Thanks for this and for offering to keep me updated. The waiting game is just the worst isn't it. We had a valuation done with Nationwide and they undervalued so really nervous with Halifax doing the valuation today. I've been told that the Mortgage has been accepted subject to the valuation so hoping it gets submitted asap. Gone through a broker so I don't receive any updated direct from Halifax. Trying not to annoy the Mortgage Advisor!

    For what reason?
  • I know what you mean! I've been next to useless at work for the last 2 works and I think it will be the same until the very end! (if we get a nice letter). Our adviser in branch is on holiday for a week but he did tell me on Friday that anyone in branch should be able to check at what point it is at, I don't want to annoy them though haha. Best of luck! Hope you get the news you want!

Nationwide use Countrywide to value. They do not favour new builds. Loads of reviews on it online. They only look at sq ft of the house didn't account for the location. The valuation that came back was ridiculous.
