The exact phrase you used was "Bad credit mark".
You won't be able to get the credit checks off your record for the simple reason that they are a true representation of what happened.0 -
o2 are fine with him being a customer, it’s the other providers that are a little wary of the OP after having two credit checks in a short period of time.TheButler45 wrote: »When I got there and tried, the assistant tried to order but was informed by O2 that I couldn't as I had cancelled a contract.0

I only put up the post for some help. Well, that didn't work. I only wanted to know if there was a way to get this bad mark removed. I say bad mark, as it's not a negative, but certainly not a positive or good mark.
I do feel aggrieved by the way I have been treated by O2 and to a certain extent by the Carphone Warehouse. Their staff should have informed me of the consequences of cancelling the contract, especially as it was the manager who suggested I bought the other phone. I am completely knowledgeable about the services of my business as are my staff. If I, or my staff do make an error, then it is my duty to correct and ensure my customers are happy.
I think I will now buy a phone out right and stick with PAYG.
Thank you to those who have made sensible comments and to those who have thrown insults, well, lets leave it that.0 -

It means you won't ever have to worry about "bad" credit markers...0 -

Let me try and make things clear. Oh and I do understand credit history. Another thing, I did not say I had a black mark on my history, just a mark, which I know will come off in 30 days. Yes,, you are 100% right, I would have signed an agreement allowing O2 to do a credit search and yes I am 100% right when I say, no one would stand in front of a counter and read pages of T&Cs before signing. You insinuate that the agreement I signed was legally binding, about it effecting my credit history, but then say that their "14 day change of mind policy" isn't. What is it?
I could go on and on about the legal terminology, but the long and short of it was, that I was mislead or at the very least not informed of the consequences of cancelling a contract with O2. (don't know if you heard of PPI where the banks mislead their customers). I have no problem with credit reference agencies, they just collect data. I do have problems with companies that can abuse their position, either deliberately or by negligence.
I DID NOTHING WRONG END OF.
No it's won't come off in 30 days, searches on your credit files stay on there for 1 year.
If you understand credit history then you would have know that, you also would have know that each credit application would leave a search on your credit files and you also wouldn't be mentioning credit scores either (which are meaniningless in this situation).
There is nothing wrong with not knowing but coming on here and thinking you know it all and dismissing other posters comments won't do you an favours.
But what I don't understand is why would you go into a shop to buy a phone where you can try it out. But then when you get home suddenly decide the phone was too small without even touching it. How did the size of the phone change from the shop to when you go home?0 -

Ignore whether or not it's a bad mark. As long as it is a factual record of what has occurred you've no real chance of getting it removed, after all a credit record is exactly that: a record of your credit activity. Not what you want to hear, Sorry.0 -
It's a shame you didn't have the opportunity to inspect the phone in the shop before making a decision. Then all this wouldn't have happened.
Oh wait....0 -
Thanks again for the people who made constructive comments.
Yes I changed my mind. I'm sure that the people who made condescending comments have never take something back to a store, because they changed their minds. Oh wait...
Agreed, that the hard search will not come off for 12 months, but will be insignificant after 30 days, which was what I implied.
Checked credit report. One single hard search stopped me from getting a contract (for 30 days) so if I can give a bit of advice, be careful when dealing with mobile phone companies.
I do completely understand credit reports, despite some comments, but doesn't mean I agree with the way they operate. Well may be not the credit report companies, but the way some companies intemperate the report.
I do listen, but also have an opinion, whether you agree with me or not. I did not receive the service I would have expected from "repeatable" companies.
A credit score is not for vanity. It is what each third company accesses your credit worthiness. They will take data from the likes of Equifax etc. and put it into a score that gives consumers an idea of their likelihood of receiving credit. Each third party company will have different scoring criteria.
Bought a sim only phone and saved about £300 over 24 months. Happy days. I am a bit annoyed with myself that I did not go down this route from the start. I should have known better.
Carphone Warehouse and O2 lost my business, but don't think they will lose any sleep over that.0
