Painting the inside of W/Burning stove recess

Can I paint the inside of a Wood burning stove recess with plain emulsion

It's is boarded out with cement board at the moment but due to a ;ate arriving stove, I can paint it before it's installed.

  • Yes you can, although how close will your stove sit?

Ours is too close really & it cracks the paint but only on the back side where it's very close. It doesn't affect the sides as there's plenty of distance.

Mine is painted with emulsion its just cement render probably treated in some way for heat. No damage accept one thin crack since it was done 7 years ago just had one refresh coat a few years back.

22cm distance from stove to wall either side and rear 8 cm stove is sat on thick slate

Yes, emulsion is the best to use. Don't use anything oil based as it will give off a terrible smell each time the stove is lit
