Sports Direct Click and Collect Disaster

So I ordered some football kits online from Sports Direct. Received and email saying that my package was ready for collection. Spent 2 hrs on a round trip to Sports Direct, and 20-30 mins in the store, only to be told, that only part of the package was ready. What are my rights? Can I just cancel the order and get it somewhere else, why can't I get them to just do the decent thing and post the package to me?

what is the law around going for click and collect packages and them not being there despite the email confirmation stating otherwise?

    You can cancel the order.

Why did you not get them posted in the first place? It would be better value than going to a store so far away.

Yeah - why choose click and collect when it's a two hour round trip?
  • haha, I'm asking myself that same questions now. We got loads of things delivered to stores near there, so it was a day of shopping and collecting things. Plus the £5 in-store voucher (which we'd planned what to spend it on) you get in-store for collecting in store was better than paying £5 for the delivery, or so we thought. Incidentally all the other collections we did with other stores where so simple. Just SportsDirect which caused problems.

Did the email actually list all the goods as being available? Or did it just say something like "your parcel is ready for collection"?

Your SportsDirect.com order is now in store.
Dear Graham Daley, thank you for using collect in store. You’ll be pleased to know, your parcel is now ready for collection.

No mention anywhere, in any of my correspondence about it being in more than 1 package.

The reason I was asking is because their T&C's do state that they may split delivery. If they'd sent you an email saying all the items were available for collection then perhaps you could have blagged a free home delivery rather than having to make another trip.

Tbh SD isn't very customer friendly - they tend to try and enact loopholes rather than follow the letter of the law.
