    There was no message to reply to (so no pop up). Message sent at lunch time, but last time seen was when the previous message was sent this morning. Just a bit baffled by it that's all.

    I doubt you'll get a guaranteed answer without a deeply technical investigation of how the messaging and display protocols work - there are so many technical design choices along the way, not publicly documented.
