PPI Claimline Ltd - Scam?

I had a phone call from this company yesterday. Very creditable telling me that I had been awarded PPI refund of around £3600. The caller told me this was from my Leeds BS mortgage and my Halifax mortgage, also from my Barclaycard, American Express card and Santander cards. Very believable as I have had all of these! He went on to to say that they had issued a cheque to the "Local Office" and asked my permission for this cheque to be delivered to my home address! I would be asked to sign some paperwork when it arrived. They knew my full name, address, date of birth, wife's name etc. I then asked for their company address and phone number which he gave me, being a London number and an address in Finchley Road. I said I would think about it and call him back. Is this genuine? Having searched the Internet, this company seems to be based in Paignton, not London. Anyone else had experience of this company?

Comments

  • Had you had any previous dealings with the company? If not then you know it's a scam.
  • Banks don't send cheques to dodgy claims companies, if there was any such cheque (which there isn't) the bank would send it to you (or credit your account)

    Of course it's a scam.

If you have been awarded such things, it means you would have to made a complaint to each one already and the companies themselves would be contacting you to let you no.

If this is a cold call telling you this then it is a scam.

Banks/lenders pay the redress to you directly. it is not paid to a third party to pass on to you.

All of which is in the public domain.
    Is this genuine?

No. its a scam. Just like most cold calls.
