Sorry, FTB here.
I'm getting mixed feedback and online content, some saying yes, some say no need etc..
What does everyone else here recommend? and what do they mainly check?
Thanks

You'll get mixed advice about surveyors irrespective of whether you're buying a new build.
Some will say they are are waste of time as their reports are so heavily caveated that their reports are a waste of time.
Others will say that a surveyor may well point out potential faults that someone less experienced in property might have missed.
How experienced are you when it comes to property and buildings? What's your attitude to risk?
With a new build you may want to consider asking them to prepare a snagging report too.0 -
by new build do you mean you are the first owner and are buying direct from the builder/developer? If yes then a survey will add nothing that you will not get from a decent snaggings review
if you mean recently built and now being purchased second hand that is a different question0 -

Hmm, well I done a snagging session and brought my dad and brother in law, which he has experience with buying properties, to be fair he found quite a few snags that I would never have noticed.by new build do you mean you are the first owner and are buying direct from the builder/developer? I kind of ruled out that snagging companies are a waste of time. Just had a bad time inquiring their services - and what a joke they are when it comes to helping.

To be fair, I'm not sure what I am trying to achieve out of the survey, it's just that the estate agent asked if I had one on the property, and it just stayed on my mind on whether or not I need one.
So far, not really I guess? Unless someone else can share their story of needing one.0
