Last night after the CH had switched off at the programmer, I killed the switch and the 3-port valve moved to Water only, then reinstated the switch. On the basis that if the pump did call in the night, it would gain temperature from the hot tank coil and quickly shut off the pump again. I did not hear the pump in the night. This explains why cycling the power works but not why it has only recently become an issue.
When the frost protection kicks in, is it programmed to select HW only? I understand wiring diagrams (having spent many years in a similar industry) but without knowing the programme within the EPROM (chips) on the pcb can only assume, which as we know makes an !!! of u and me!0 -
No it will not select HW only, it will just power the pump and fire the boiler if required.0
