If you are still using 7 and don't want 10 yet (like me) then you can stop 10 dead by downloading GWX Control Panel from here:

Don't think you need to download something to do that. I removed that ages ago myself.

I think you're right - Microsoft stopped pushing Windows 10 onto Windows 7/8 machines ages ago. There may still be ways to upgrade to Windows 10 for free but you have to take active steps to do so.

Yes, I thought there was a flurry of activity when the free W10 was coming to "AN END" and then posters saying you could still have it if you were prepared to say you needed accessibility. Makes me wonder why MS are pushing out an old KB.

Defender on 7 is just simply a rudementary anti malware ..

On W10 it includes sucurity essentials and is a full AV suite

Yeah, however, it is overwritten by the other antivirus default built in software on WIN10 called F-Secure, which many people cannot delete off their systems.

    KB2952664
"There is no GWX or upgrade functionality contained in this update."

It is no longer a path to a compulsory update to windows 10.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
