Is there a corner of your living area where you can put a tumble drier? I know it doesn't solve the problem of not having a dishwasher but if it is not your forever home then it is a relatively short term problem.

A decent conservatory is quite expensive and I doubt that it would add much, if anything to the value of your property.

Weve a conservatory and has previously mentioned it is pleasant around april/may september/october, then its either boiling, 100+ degrees or freezing cold. I would think twice about getting one its not cheap. Good
    luck.

Proper extension, preferably accessible from the kitchen itself. I presume you'd locate the dishwasher in the kitchen, and washing machine in the utility room. You might even consider adding a downstairs w/c if you don't already have one.

Conservatories rarely add to the value of a home IMO. They might even make it worth less, as many buyers exclude them from their property search.

Can't you put a tumble drier in the spare room where the washing currently dries and loose a kitchen cupboard for a dishwasher?

  • Its a big ghetto but if its literally just space to put utilities can't you just get a shed and stick them in there ?
  • Thanks all for the suggestions! We have had 2 companies round to give conservatory quotes and currently trying to research possible local builders to give us an idea on extension quotes.

While it's not forever home, I do think we could stay here up to 10 years and have young children here - think having the space of an extension would really contribute to being able to do that.

Hadn't thought of the shed idea actually! Will suggest to OH.

Extension would be on back of property from the kitchen. Considering opening it up and creating large ktichen/diner/utility space. The extension itself couldn't be massive (probably 3m*4m) as garden is not huge but adding that to our current kitchen would make it a very decent size. All things to weigh up and decide if worth the investment or if we should just look at this house as a 5 year stop-gap before moving to something more suitable for a family. We're only early twenties anyway so maybe getting ahead of myself..

Thanks all again, appreciate responses :)
