Pukka Pies, Pukka Customer Service

I tried a Pukka steak pie on Tuesday 7th November, and while the pastry and gravy were delicious, there were only two (yes, two!) pieces of steak in the pie. I sent a light-hearted email via Pukka's website, just to draw the possible quality control issue to their attention. I thought that I'd get a generic email reply, but no, in today's post I got a very nice apology, including a detailed description of their process, no attempt to avoid responsibility, and a £5 voucher, valid for any grocery shopping, so I don't even have to spend it on pies!

I'm very impressed with their customer service and thought I'd post to say so.

Well done Pukka!

  • I can't say that I'm too keen on the Pukka steak & kidney pies.

They do contain kidney but this is minced up rather than being in lumps as in a traditional S&K pie.
Personally, I can't see the point of including it if it's minced up as there is no kidney taste when eating the pie.

I agree with both posts above. I had the exact same experience as the original post but with a chicken and mushroom pie. Delicious pastry and gravy but only 2 pieces of chicken. I bought it because it says 'More Chunkier Pieces of Chicken' on the box.

I received a very similar sounding letter and a £5 grocery voucher.

I am also disappointed with the minced kidney in the steak and kidney pie, as per post 2.

If you want a good steak pie try the M&S gourmet one.

    Well done Pukka!

I grew up in Wigston where the factory is. I wouldn't eat them if I were you! All the very thickest kids from school ended up there and I know about the added "extras" that have gone into the pies.
