Beware black/brown as a composite door colour.

We had a black/brown composite door fitted last April from Door Stop. A few weeks later we noticed a speck on the door and so wiped the spot and also wiped away a patch of the colour! The fitter organised a replacement door and after 2 further doors rejected the final door himself. This colour in our experience does not bond to the material beneath.
We eventually had a black door from a different manufacturer fitted last September. We would have used DoorStop but it appears that they do not make a black frame. A long painful project!

  • I could spend ages going on about the problems I’ve had with Door Stop doors (and have done before) but I can’t say I’ve ever had this problem.

We did have a weird greasy mark on one of our replacements (which was replaced again) but aside from a few minor scratches (wear and tear) I’ve never seen this and I’ve cleaned our doors many times.

What were you wiping it with? Our window cleaner cleans them with filtered water when he does the windows and every now and again I give them a good clean with warm soapy water. The only other cleaners I use are glass cleaner on the glazing and uPVC cleaner on the frames only. Never taken any paint off. I’ve got a black door and a black/brown door.

I am much like TheCyclingProgrammer. DoorStop are slick with marketing and sales, and also willing with spare parts support. The negative is quality is dismal, and there is absolutely no concept of customer support. Here the company have a deliberate corporate policy of not employing anyone with these attributes. It is purely a sales orientated company with complete disregard for the end user which is the consumer.

Sorry OP but your tales of woe are part of the price you pay when choosing a DoorStop door. Not that DoorStop are bothered by this - they already have your money!

I have a Force8 black composite door. Been fitted four years, and gets full on afternoon and evening sun. So far no problems.
