Hi there,
Just wanted some advice on a purchase I've just made at Vestiaire Collective. I discovered the site this weekend and went a little crazy when I saw they had a massive discount code offer.
Now I've read about Vestiaire and see that some people allege they sell fakes and refuse to accept returns.
Do I have any protection? As I used the credit option, can I still cancel the sale? I understand they make it very difficult to return items and that I would have to prove it's s a replica...
Thank you for any advice you can give!

Firstly, I don't think they sell the sort of items that are for investment- more the current bling that socialites want.
Regardless of that, as a business they are required to take returns, you will have to read their help pages to see how to initiate that, and will also be responsible for tracked and insured return postage.
EDIT: Just seen that it is an upmarket sort of ebay - for posh fashionable stuff. You might want to check the status of your sellers as if they are selling as private sellers you have no right to a return at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. here's what it says about returns, as per my earlier response it all depends whether you bought from a business or private seller.
https://faq.vestiairecollective.com/hc/en-gb/articles/208750169-Return-my-item
Do you want to return an item you’ve ordered? The options to do so vary depending on your seller’s status (private or professional).
If you bought your item from a private seller
In accordance with our General Terms and Conditions, items bought from a private seller are neither reimbursable, not exchangeable.
If youare not pleased with your item, you are able to relist the item for sale on your account.
If you bought your item from a professional seller
To return an item to us within 14 days, starting from the delivery date, and if the item still has its Tag, these are the steps to follow:
Sign in to your 'Account'
Select the ‘Orders & Sales’ tab
Find the order’s reference in the list
Click on ‘Return my item’
Make sure to fully fill in the return label and place it inside your parcelI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Soolin,
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. That's what I had read too. However, isn't selling replicas illegal? There should be some sort of trading standards I could complain to.
Of course, it might be genuine - I will know soon.

Selling something as genuine when it's a fake most certainly is illegal and you have a right to a refund, whatever the 'terms' say about an item not being exchangeable or refundable if bought from a private seller.
Two options: if you bought using a credit card, you should have protection under S.75; if you bought using a debit card, you may be able to try for a chargeback (your MasterCard could be either, so check). This site has lots of info about both of these.
Also open to you to complain to Trading Standards.
Before you do any of this, check if it is genuine...0 -
There are complaints but the usual sort I would expect for these high cost low value bling items, but there are surprisingly few talking about fakes, so I suspect it is like any site, choose your seller carefully.
If you suspect something is fake then you might have to pay to get it authenticated before your card company will do anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oops, after all that the item turned out to be genuine! I don't know who these people are, in France, UK & US, who have blogs criticising VC. Great experience, parcel arrived very quickly, and shop confirmed my purchase was authentic.
Thanks everyone!0 -

Hadn't been on these boards for a while and just seen these accusations. No, I am not employed by Vestiaire to be complimentary about them. I was genuinely worried to start with as the online comments about VC were so dreadful. When the jewellery turned out to be genuine, I was over the moon, especially, as I'd paid about a fourth of its original value.
However, just bought another piece by a more obscure label, which after email correspondence with the designer turns out not to be by them. The item is still being authenticated by Vestiaire - I have emailed them to say I've already been notified the item is not genuine and provided them with the email address of the designer. I'll waiting to see how they will respond. For the moment I've only received a stock email back...More blas! now about the whole thing so will see how it goes.0
