O/S Daily Thursday 9th November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

DH up and going to go to the Dr's at last, had an awful night - told him he's got to go to the Dr's as nothing he's taking now is having any effect, the meds he has been taking are not working either I'm hoping they don't fob him off with the "it's a virus we can't do anything" line, he'll be in week 6 of this next week - and it's not getting any better. He's not happy as I've said I'm not going to phone for him, as you can never get through and then when you do all the appointments are then gone, but if you go up to the surgery and present in person I've never not been able to get an appointment, but not nice having to wait with all the other ill people! I'm thinking he's either got a chest infection, bronchitis or pneumonia. His airways seem so irritated by all the coughing, I think he needs steriods, inhalers and I doubt they'll do it, but if they put him on a nebulizer for 10 mins I think it would make a world of difference. We'll see what they come up with.
DS1 gone to work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night for the boys and myself was jacket potato, beans/cheese, pizza and breaded chicken portion. DH has barely eaten for the past week as when he does he's gets off coughing and he doesn't fancy anything - he's lost so much weight already. So I'm not sure what dinner will be, he did fancy some HM egg fried rice and fish fingers last night which I made and he ate the tiniest amount but did eat at least.
I'm now on days' off, and I have a nail appointment first thing, DH is not happy and seems to think I shouldn't be going because he is ill!!?? Rightly or wrongly I'm sticking to my guns and as I've been nagging/trying to persuade him to go to the Dr's for the past week and he says' he won't ring for himself or go up and wait for when they open, he says he's going to go after they open, I've said he runs the risk of not getting an appointment then, he wanted me to phone, but you can't get through and then when you do get through, the appointments are all gone - his choice, he's being really pig headed and has been quite nasty, I know he's not well but he's an adult and he's pushed my limits. He seems to not realise that none of us in the house have slept properly for the past 6 weeks due to his coughing most of the night. Sorry that's turned into a rant - but as you can probably tell, he's pushed me to my limit overnight ......
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
After I had been to the supermarket yesterday I thought I would take a new route to the town centre and somehow managed to get hopelessly lost, and ended up getting the first bus that came along going to the town centre.
The new cake shop that I wanted to have a look at in town didn’t provide me with any new ideas for cakes, but the coffee was good, so not a wasted trip.
After that I did a bit more Christmas shopping, so have almost finished now, then I came home and made some mince pies for the freezer. I always do some for a couple of friends, so that is one little job completed.
I spent the afternoon sleeping, so didn’t sleep very well last night. I think being quite down at the moment is making me really sluggish and tired most of the time.
Right, enough waffling, time for some more tea.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Feels very cold here this morning would not surprise me if there is a frost, the car park at work will be terrible and slippy its bad enough on a normal day, there is construction traffic coming and going all day and the mud is terrible.
Something and chips for dinner tonight I think there are some fish fingers in the freezer which will do for a quick meal with some beans.
Specky my natural time clock would have me staying up till around two each night and getting up at around 10 ish the next day, as it is im in bed for 9 most nights and read for a while and am asleep by 10 and up at 6.30 in the morning. I only keep such early hours as I have never been so tired as I am with this job its completely exhausting, but its not my natural hours.
Finally got round to ordering the kitchen flooring last night so hopefully that will be here in the next few days, I have also seen the new light fittings which I would like to order.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
The chickens are only producing one or two eggs a day between them, I've tried to bribe them to produce more with corn, cauli leaves and baked potato peelings but it's not working, lol.
We were cold yesterday afternoon so I got all my blankets out and we lounged on the sofas under them. None of them match anything in the room – or each other – so it looked like a psychedelic colour explosionGood reason to buy more yarn and crochet more blankets, I reckon.
I didn't move enough yesterday so my hip has stiffened up, I'll be swinging my leg about a lot today, lol. I need to shuffle papers and put the info onto spreadsheets, there's quite a lot to do so I'll set the oven timer to go off every 30 minutes to remind me to get up and move around – I can sit in front of a computer for hours and not realise how much time has gone past. Not much else planned for today, apart from a couple of stretching sessions.

Morning folks. A drab start here but much milder so small mercies and all that.
Last night's wine and carvery was a let down really. The whole bar area was partitioned off for renovations so we just had to keep to our tables when we had finished eating. Not the same as having a good old gossip whilst sitting nice 'n comfy in an easy chair! The food was what it was - you can't really go wrong with a carvery can you!
We are expecting eldest DGD after breakfast. Her school is closed today and tomorrow because of urgent boiler repairs. The two younger ones, at a different school, think it's most unfair that they are not off too! I can foresee us getting challenged to a game of Monopoly as usual. It bores me so I might leave her and grandad to it if I can get out of it!
There has been too much eating out lately, as well as eating rubbish, so today I am back to a healthy eating regime. I feel lethargic, sluggish and lazy and I am blaming it on my diet. Not sleeping well doesn't help either but I can''t seem to do anything about that.
SPEKY your early to bed, early to rise quote doesn't ring true with me sadly. I am none of the three despite going to bed early and getting up early - too early!
Got the shopping done yesterday and the fridge is now full, as is the veg box. The only things that went in the freezer were essentials like bread, rolls, etc and some frozen berries. Still trying to get stocks down before buying anything else for them.
Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Any news on Becky DUMPLING? Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Breezy here but not raining at the moment, it's probably waiting until I go out to work!
Must do some washing tonight, I don't have any underwear left! The DW should go on too as it will get smelly.
Had an entertaining evening last night, the show was quite good but I do struggle with amateur dramatics, makes me laugh when I shouldn't! The traffic was a bit tricky on the way there and I missed the motorway slip road on the way back but it didn't delay us too much. Only downside was I didn't get home until midnight so I'll be tired tonight.
Hugs to those having a hard time, Gers - glad you have given up the Dunoon teaching, such a long way on dodgy roads in the dark/rain/ice.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
oh poor you nmlc, my oh is a "big girl" as well , i could throw something at him sometimes0

Good morning all
Nothing much to say.
Sorted out gas tariff as fixed deal about to end.
Cancelled Sky tv, spent ages trying to contact them and was told I need to pay admin charge to renew. Never been asked before, just their way to make more money I think.
Don't know what I can use to replace sky, some box thing maybe, anything technical just confuses me.
Hope you all have a good day.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc, sorry that you are having a rough time with your OH's illness, hope he gets an appointment today.
We spent hours walking around the castle yesterday so didn't get to the Botanical Gardens in the end but well worth it as very interesting with a lot to see, My pedometer said that I had done over 20k steps, a lot of it uphill, no wonder I was shattered last night! We did go out for a meal early evening, a Turkish Meze which was delicious, the restaurant was only in the next street so good to stagger back from
Home today but we will definitely be back, it's a lovely city with a good feeling to it.
Speky we are both 'larks' for sure, up early but ready for bed by 10, not sure if that has made us wealthy and wise though :rotfl:
Have a good day folks x0 -
NMLC, I hope your DH gets to see a Dr, appointments here are like gold dust.
I had a busy day with Ziggypup yesterday, she is a real sweetheart.
DS and DW still haven't exchanged on their house move so that will probably push their moving date back, it's very frustrating.
DD started her college course yesterday and loved it so that is a relief. Dhe and DH are off to Glasgow today for his little brother's 21st (there are 19 years between them).0
