  • Problem is getting a plumber who can do the job

That because it’s not a plumbers job, you need someone who is Gas Safe Reg’d
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

That'd help then i suppose :rotfl:So when i hit the yellow pages what am i actually looking for?

And wouldn't you know it. I stopped by my mothers for a shower tonight. My wife braved our shower ... not a problem.

Just had the tap running for a couple minutes - no problem at all. Only thing is the pressure is reading almost 2 bar. I know it'll rise but it seems to be all over the place. It was about 0.5-0.75 bar when my wife was having a shower. Settles around 1 bar. I don't know if all that behaviour is normal or what.

Turned the central heating on. Our room is 16c when we start. Turned it to get to 21c. The setting is auto but you can set it to temp manual. Anyway it got to 17c and then stopped. I don't know if that's more the settings than the boiler itself though.

Did you call Worcester Bosch yet?
Their boilers come with 5 to 10 years warranty. Ours is on 5, the house we're hoping to buy on 10.
No point in spending money you don't need to.
They came out to a leak on ours on new years eve last year within 24 hours at no charge. I just rang up and gave the address, no issues at all.

Just to add, ours hadn't ever been serviced by them and hadn't been done annually. That doesn't matter.

  • No I haven't. I can't find any paperwork at home regards the installation to say how old it is. I think the only thing we had indicating the age was when we bought the house and the paperwork the previous owners detail things on like has the house ever been flooded, what are you leaving behind etc I'm sure it said it was 1 year old on that paper but nothing with conclusive proof. I'll keep looking though.

Has it got the serial number on the front, you can identify the age from the serial number the numbers you need are the 11,12 and 13. Put them up and I’ll date it for you.
  • Ahh my wife has come good again. I'm terrible with this :(

She found a 'Building Regulations Compliance Certificate' which basically says the boiler was installed on behalf of British Gas Central Heating Installations on 13th August 2012 and it does specify the boiler is a Worcester Heat Systems Greenstar 30 Si.

So i guess i should contact Worcester and ask them what the warranty is on this boiler then?

I wonder if anyone has checked the mains gas pressure. We had what sounds a very similar issue when we had our boiler replaced. The boiler installer came back a few times but couldn't find a fault. Eventually they suggested we call out the manufacturer's repairer under the warranty - first thing he did when he arrived was check the mains gas pressure and immediately found it to be too low, hence the boiler constantly cutting out on high demand as it couldn't get enough gas it needed.

Good call - this happened in a property I was working on - governor on the meter was knackered - worth a check.

  • Hmm interesting you mention that as earlier in the year they did the gas supply to all the houses in the area. They had to dig up a section down the side of our hose near the gas meter & i don't know what they did, installed new pipes or something (may not have been new pipes btw, i'm just guessing). A guy had to come out & look into the meter a couple times.

Not just our house but the whole area. Now i can't honestly say that they trouble started then or not. I'd be guessing.

Also i took a look at the boiler early this morning & the pressure was reading under 1 bar. It's done this a few times. The thing is there's no obvious leak on any of the radiators. I've checked underneath the joints, felt around the floors & carpets & there's nothing.

Could there possibly be another explanation as to why it loses pressure? It's very very very gradual. I topped it to 1 bar today, now it may not drop under for weeks or months but it should certainly take more than days.
