Hey folks so we not too long moved into our house, the boiler is an old glow-worm, obviously each has pros and cons, I'm actually used to a combi system myself,. Anyway we've had a few niggles with it, particularly central heating which doesn't work, can't find any info about recent services and my mate had to prize off a rusted on plate to even have a look..promising. Anyway long story the repairs it needs/condition it's in means I may as well just get something new and be done with it.

So I've got the following quote from a Worcester Bosch accredited installer (you just get a few more years on the warranty I think)...

Installation of 28CDI boiler/removal of conventional boiler/gravity fed stuff (his recommendation, he said I could consider the 32 or 36CDI but from my usage description the difference would be negligible), installed in not quite the same place (due to some issues with the current flue placement, new boiler dimensions and our houses design, so very nearby but on other wall, needs new hole through the wall for the flue, he was joking it's a pain to get through a no-fines wall as these houses are of that design)

Installation of Wave smart controls (I picked it)

Chemical flush of system

Supply and fit of mira element ev shower (as our current one is not compatible with a combi boiler, think it requires some pipe work going to it)

£2958 excl VAT (so bout £3550 then)

How does this sound? It's a local company of four guys, he seemed very friendly and professional and they seem to have very good reviews online from multiple sources especially any aftercare, and he didn't seem pushy at all saying of course ask around and get other quotes. Though if the quote isn't too bad I'll just go it tbh

  • What location is the current boiler in the house, does the current boiler have a condense, what size is the current gas pipe to the boiler, where is the meter in location to the boiler position, what part of the country are you in?

boilers in the kitchen, can't say I'm tech savvy on boilers haha, I don't think it's a condenser one. Not sure about gas pipe size, meter is on outside of house very near where boiler is. In the east midlands.

Price sounds ok, I would go for the bigger boiler just in case, is he qualified?
