Which card best to pay 30k

Hello,
We will be paying a large amount (30k) and have the choice to pay by card.
We do have the standard BA Amex only. Any other card worth getting to pay the amount? The expense is in USD and my cards are in GBP.
Thanks

Depends what you want and how big your limit is. Amex Gold would be good if you want bonus 22,000 MR. I would possibly take a few cards out that would maximise the sign up offers and definitely upgrade your BA Amex to the premium one as it would get you the companion voucher at 10k and also double the avios0

If however you are just looking for the s75 protection then you only have to pay a £1 on a card as long as the purchase is under 30k0

Thanks - Premium is 195GBP though. I used to have it, but cancelled it for the costs. Not sure worth the yearly fee just for this one-off purchase.0

I should have noted: the expense is in USD, but my Amex in GBP. Amex FX is a rip-off with c3% of the amount.0

Do you know exactly what the sterling amount will be - because if it turns out to be £30,000.01 then S75 is out of the window.0

Almost all card fx loadings are going to make this transaction expensive (with the exception of Halifax Clarity and other no load cards). I'm a high earner but haven't seen a credit card limit that high even during the days of cavalier lending and stoozmania.
My guess is you'll be paying the balance in full to avoid nasty card interest fees so you'd save £900+ by using a specialist forex transfer firm rather than trying to pay by card. Not sure the amount of Avios etc would be worth that much.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
